Practical IT support for small business

Technology should help your business move forward. Not hold it back.

Email won't send. A new employee needs to be set up. Microsoft 365 isn't behaving. The Wi-Fi keeps dropping. We handle IT for small businesses that don't have an IT department.

Founder-led IT support, backed by senior service desk experience in a complex healthcare environment.

Remote support for businesses anywhere in the US. On-site visits across Southern Maine and Greater Boston.

Services

Five ways to stop fighting your own tech.

Every engagement starts as a ticket — a plain description of what's wrong, and a clear plan to fix it. These are the kinds of work we take on; what you actually buy is on the pricing page.

Fractional IT Support

Ongoing remote helpdesk for your team — device troubleshooting, network and printer issues, account and access management. Billed hourly, or on a monthly plan.

Microsoft 365 & Azure Setup

New tenant setup, Entra ID identity & access management, Exchange email configuration, and security hardening — configured right the first time, not patched together.

SOPs & Onboarding Docs

Plain-language IT runbooks and SharePoint-based onboarding guides your team will actually open and use — built from years of writing training material that stuck.

Device & Mobile Management

Windows, Mac, and iOS support under one roof, plus Mobile Device Management (MDM) setup so lost or stolen phones and laptops don't become data breaches.

Websites and online ordering

Building, fixing and running the site your business sells through — and looking after it afterward.

Most people who build you a website hand it over and leave. The hosting, the domain, the accounts, the backups and the security become yours to work out. We build it and then keep running it, because that second half is what we already do. One person to call, whether it is broken or it needs changing.

How an engagement actually runs
01

Submit a ticket

Tell us what's going on — no jargon required. A phone call works just as well as a form.

02

Free assessment

We review your setup and give you a clear, fixed quote — no surprise hourly overruns.

03

Fix & document

We resolve the issue and leave you with documentation your team can actually follow.

04

Stay covered

Move to a monthly plan whenever you want ongoing cover instead of one-off fixes.

Pricing

Published, itemised, and honest about the edges.

Most providers make you book a call to find out what they charge. Here are the numbers, what each plan covers, and — further down — exactly what it does not.

Founding clients
The first three clients hold a founding rate for twelve months. In exchange we ask for a short written review after ninety days, and permission to describe the work anonymously. Founding rates are shown beneath the plan.
The Fix One Thing
$500 / 4 hrs
  • One problem, defined in writing before we start
  • If it turns out bigger than four hours, we tell you before the fourth — not after
  • Written up, so you keep the explanation
  • No monthly commitment
Start here if you are not sure
Ongoing Support
from $395 /month
Founding rate $345 · held 12 months
  • Day-to-day help for your whole team
  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • Patching and endpoint protection
  • Backup monitoring
  • Employee onboarding and offboarding
Priced on the size and shape of your business, not a headcount

Larger engagements can include security awareness training, written procedures, vendor coordination, and HIPAA-aligned documentation for regulated environments. Also available: hourly work, prepaid blocks of hours, fixed-price projects from $450, onboarding for new monthly clients, and website builds, changes and online ordering, quoted per project. Ask and we will quote it in writing before anything starts.

The part nobody publishes

What these prices do not include

Hidden exclusions are the most common complaint about this industry. Here are ours, in advance.

After-hours and emergency response

Not offered today. We support business hours, Monday to Friday. If you need overnight or weekend cover, we are not the right fit yet and we would rather say so now.

On-site work

Quoted separately. Most issues are resolved remotely; when they are not, we agree the visit and the cost first.

Hardware and software licenses

You buy these directly from the vendor at their price. We help you choose and set them up — we do not mark them up.

Projects and migrations

Monthly plans cover ongoing support. Anything that is a defined piece of work with a start and an end is quoted on its own.

A note on fair use. Monthly plans assume a normal level of support. If a month runs well beyond that, we come to you with a conversation — a review of what is causing it, a different arrangement, or a project to fix the underlying problem. You will not receive a surprise invoice.

A note on compliance. Compliance documentation and evidence packs are available on larger engagements. They do not make your organization compliant and we do not certify compliance — that determination is yours and your advisers'. Whether these obligations apply to you depends on your industry and environment.

Why Ruha

Real systems. Real patience. Real follow-through.

  • ✓

Wrote the onboarding material adopted as the department's standard, and trained and mentored the service desk analysts who used it. Explaining technology clearly is the job, not a bonus.

  • ✓

Senior Service Desk Analyst in a large healthcare environment — supporting several hundred clinical, financial, and administrative applications, where downtime is not an option.

  • ✓

Promoted from Tier 1 on sustained performance, and converted from contract to permanent at the end of the engagement.

  • ✓

Escalation you can follow — triage and handover documented well enough that the next person doesn't have to start the conversation over. That is the same habit behind every write-up you'll get from us.

  • ✓

Patience and clear explanations — you'll understand what happened and why, not just get a bill.

  • ✓

CompTIA A+ and Google IT certified.

  • ✓

The tools behind all of that — Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID administration; ServiceNow and Footprints ticketing; Rapid7 vulnerability scanning; CrowdStrike endpoint protection; least-privilege access review; LAN and WAN configuration; 802.11 wireless with WPA2 and WPA3, SSID and router setup; network printer mapping and remote desktop; Windows, Mac and iOS. Listed because whoever you forward this page to will ask.

"I don't disappear once the invoice is sent. If something breaks again next month because of what I set up, that's on me to fix — not you to figure out."

Mission

Why Ruha Solutions exists.

The company is named after the founder's daughter, and built for both of his children — a reminder that the work done today is building something for the people who matter most.

Small businesses deserve the same care and clear explanation that hospital systems get. That belief is the whole reason this exists.

Learning

We publish what we know.

Free lessons drawn from real service desk work — how to define a problem before touching it, how to find a fault without guessing, and how to prove a fix actually worked. No login, no email required to read.

Every lesson can be listened to as well as read. A play control sits at the top of each one; it highlights the sentence being spoken and follows down the page, so you can take a lesson while driving or making coffee.

SYSTEM TIP:
FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

No long-term contract. One-off work is pay-as-you-go, and projects are fixed-price quotes you approve before anything starts. Monthly support runs month to month. The founding rate is held for twelve months, but you are never locked in for twelve months. If we are not earning it, you cancel.

Can you support us remotely, or do you need to be on-site?

Most issues resolve remotely through secure, one-time session links you approve each time. For Southern Maine businesses, on-site visits are available when hands-on work is genuinely needed.

We're not in Maine or Boston. Can you still help?

For project work, yes — migrations, Microsoft 365 setup, documentation and security reviews are delivered remotely, and we work with businesses anywhere in the US. Monthly support plans are also remote, so distance is not the constraint. The only thing tied to geography is on-site work, which we offer across Southern Maine and Greater Boston.

How fast will you respond?

Clients on a monthly plan get priority. If something is truly on fire, say so in the ticket and it moves to the front.

We're tiny — two computers and a printer. Are we too small?

You're exactly who this is for. Ruha Solutions exists for businesses too small to hire IT staff but too busy to keep fighting their own tech.

Will you explain what you did, or just send a bill?

Every fix comes with a plain-language write-up: what broke, what we did, and how to avoid it next time. Many become guides in the Knowledge Base so your whole team benefits.

What about our data and passwords?

We never store client credentials without a documented agreement, every account uses multi-factor authentication, and every remote session requires your explicit approval. Coming from healthcare IT, we treat your data the way patient systems have to be treated: carefully.
